Hasty Pudding Club Man of the Year

The Hasty man of the year in 2017 will be the one and only Ryan Reynolds. He is an actor and a producer and his work in the film is now being recognized by the Hasty Pudding Club.

Reynolds is a man that has appeared in many different movies; drama, comedy, and action. His different movies include; DeadPool from which he was nominated at the Golden Globes. He was one of the producers of this movie. He is set to produce and also appear in the DeadPool 2 movie that is set to be released later this year. Other movies that he is associated with include; proposal, X-men origins, safe house, green lantern, etc.

He is set to star in the movie Hitman’s Bodyguard alongside Samuel L Jackson. He will also make an appearance in the life movie opposite Rebecca Ferguson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Ryan also serves on the board of directors for the Michael Fox Foundation. This is a foundation that is focused on Parkinson’s research.

The man of the year awards will be held on February 3rd, 2017 at the Farkas Hall, named for alum and donor Andrew Farkas, which has been the venue of choice since 1888. This is an award that was established in 1963 to honor and appreciate the performers who have made an impact in the entertainment industry.

They will host a roast in honor of Ryan before presenting him with his Pudding Pot. That will then be followed by a press conference. Ryan will then have attended the opening night of Casino Evil which is the 169th production supported by Pudding. The shows for this production will run from the 3rd of Feb to 5th of March. For the first time this year, the award ceremony will be live streamed for the public.

The other renowned performers that have been honored with this award include; Tom Hanks- known for his great role in Sully the 2016 movie, Justin Timberlake, Clint Eastwood, Robert Downey Junior, Robert De Niro, Chris Pratt and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The Hasty Pudding Club is a part of the Hasty Pudding Institute which was founded in 1770. The main reason why the Institute was founded was so as to provide support and education to the performing arts and encourage the rising of the young talent. The other clubs include the Harvard krokodiles an A cappella group and the Hasty Pudding Theatricals which is the world’s third oldest theater group.
